How to treat; older peopleTreat them like you would treat your parents – with respect. And here, I don’t just mean wrinklies, but anyone significantly older than you. In olden times younger people had to respect their parents and older people so much more than we are forced to now, but we should be still respecting them. Show them politeness and love, just as Jesus would have done.
How to treat; younger peopleAgain, with respect. Although younger people can be annoying, remember you were there once too! Again, we should treat younger people like brothers and sisters (for me, that would be knowing they are annoying, but you love them regardless.) Not being embarrassing, or patronizing or bullying younger people, and younger Christians but loving and caring for them.
How to treat; the opposite sexTreat people of the opposite sex by remembering they are brothers and sisters in Christ, not like they are eye candy! If you start to see people of the opposite sex as your brother / sister then you are more likely to respect them, as a person, not as an object and using them. (Not suggesting any of you would do this, just to point out.) Then you will act in a way towards them that is pure and pleasing to God! But if you go out with someone of the opposite sex, it’s not incest, the whole brother / sister thing is how you should be respecting them.
ApplicationLooking at these, how do you treat older/ younger / opposite sex? And how are you going to change? We need to look at the way we treat and relate to Christians of all ages. Pray that God can help you!
